Some questions

How to select? What's the lead time? Will it work in extreme cold or heat? How about after-sales? — DAF POWER FAQ, all the answers in one place.

Generator sets are rated under two international definitions:

  • PRP (Prime Rated Power) — for continuous or long-hour operation with variable load; average load factor may reach 70% of PRP.
  • ESP (Standby Rated Power) — for emergency backup only; limited running hours, no overload capacity.

Ratings are expressed in kVA / kW at a power factor of 0.8 (1 kVA = 0.8 kW), together with allowable continuous running hours. Before selecting a unit, always confirm whether the application is prime or standby.

There are two worldwide systems: 50 Hz / 1500 rpm, used by the majority of global markets; and 60 Hz / 1800 rpm, mainly used in North America, parts of Latin America and selected Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Typical three-phase voltages are 480 V / 240 V / 208 V at 60 Hz and commonly 400 V at 50 Hz. Before ordering, always confirm three parameters together: frequency + phase + voltage.

We currently build on two engine platforms:

  • Cummins (Sino-American joint venture) — a globally recognized premium brand, accepted in every market.
  • DAF POWER (premium Chinese engine) — dependable quality and our flagship house brand.
  • DAF POWER alternator — our main option: stable, reliable and cost-effective, designed to Stamford specifications.
  • Leroy-Somer — a first-tier global alternator brand with a wholly foreign-owned plant in Fuzhou.
  • Stamford — a first-tier global alternator brand within Cummins Group.

All units come standard with brushless alternators and all-copper windings for stable, reliable output.

All units come standard with a fuel tank sized for 8 hours of continuous operation at 100% load; the tank is base-mounted or top-mounted depending on the model. Fuel consumption at 100% and 75% load varies by engine model, and matched figures are provided with each model’s datasheet.
